Comfortaire IC Foundation
The foundation for your new air mattress is very important. The technology built into the Comfortaire air beds require a strong, firm, solid level of foundation. A propper foundation allows the special construction features of the mattress to come to life.
Comfortaire accomidates your new bed by offering two heights of foundations. Different models of air beds vary in height. You may need to raise or lower the overall sleeping surface. To accomplish this you may use a standard height foundation, or to acheive a lower height you can opt for the low profile foundation. The low profile foundation is approximately half of the height of the standard unit.
The way a foundation is built today is different from the way a "Box Spring" was built in years past. In the not too distant past a "Box Spring" actually had springs in it, making it a softer less supportive surface.
Today's Comfortaire foundation is a great step forward from the days of "Box Springs". Comfortaire uses a special wood design to create the support structure in their foundation. It is assembled by gluing each joint to reduce noise. Next the joints are fastened with nail screws to ensure the foundation is long lasting.
The unique design also has eight wood support crossbeams that run with your body instead of accross your body. This method of support will give each individual air chamber its own support; that doesn't rely on or affect the other side. To top it off, it also features two horizontal center rails which rest on the bed frame. This adds even more durability and prevents sagging over time.
Comfortaire proudly constructs their products to be compliant with CFR 1633. This means that the covers on these foundations will resist open flame ignition. Rest assured you will sleep safe on these beds!
